• First Responder & Suicide Intervention Course 56001

  • Teacher: Robert Sherman

  This course was designed to provide you with basic techniques in handling situations where you are the first responder to a critical incident or hostage situation.  The course is divided into three sections.

  Section 1. First Responder
  Section 2. Suicide Intervention
  Section 3. Suicide by Cop

  This course will not certify you as a hostage negotiator.

  While the likelihood of you being kidnapped or taken hostage is extremely small, it is important that you do everything within your power to increase your chances of survival if you become a victim.  This course gives you basic guidelines for surviving a hostage incident where YOU are the hostage.

  

• Sudden Custody Death Syndrome Course 56002

  • Teacher: Harrison Watts

  This course explores the sudden unexplained deaths of individuals who die while in the custody of law enforcement. Cocaine psychosis, excited delirium, and positional asphyxia are explained in depth. What you can do as an officer and department to avoid civil liability. Techniques are explored on dealing with individuals exhibiting symptoms of the above mentioned states of mind.
